Individual Game Sketch
For this assignment, I took inspiration from a personal event that occurred last week. I recently relocated. By living alone, it can be hard sometimes. My seasonal depression would always come up to me with colder and gloomier weather whenever I am at the lowest. Last week, I could feel my seasonal depression creeping in my thoughts. It is just that Eerie feeling that you know that is slowly approaching, and you know it is coming. However, this time I do not have time to mop about the weather for a few days because I have deadlines coming up. So I did what I think would make me feel better, such as taking a walk and treating myself to some of my favourite food.
Gameplay: This game concept is me (a player) on a mission; to finish the deadlines and win the trophy(TIME TO CHILL!!). To win the game, I must fight two monsters that represent seasonal depression and the deadlines. There are some power-up objects such as cherry and strawberry, which you can take during the game to power up and fight off the monsters.
With the available free Unity Assets, I decided to develop my 2D game.
Process :
There are many things that I still want to implement for this game, such as fixing the player movement and making it more realistic, fighting the monsters and collecting the power-ups effectively. If I could, I would like to add some sound effects to make the game more engaging. In the time being, the player and the supporting game objects are animated like I wanted, but they do not engage with one another. The player is also moving awkwardly, such as the body is in running mode, even before the game begins and when it jumps. It is also passing through the monsters instead of fighting them. I am still learning how to code, and slowly but surely, I am getting there. I look forward to exploring more in Unity how I can improve my game sketch.
